Panels

Cross-regional solidarity: campaigning against fossil fuel finance in Asia

How do we defund the fossil fuel industry and ensure we finance the future we want? Going after the social license of the fossil fuel industry that allows them to operate with impunity in the climate change era means also campaigning against harmful practices of institutions that make their operations possible. Featuring activists and campaigners from 350 Indonesia, 350 Japan and 350 Asia, this session will discuss how cross-country fossil finance campaigns in Asia connect the dots and build solidarity across borders towards solutions that center people and planet.

Building the world we need: solutions and radical reimagination

In leaving behind a world powered by fossil fuels that ushered in so many injustices especially in the Global South, how might we go about defining and building the world we need? Featuring activists leading Green New Deal campaigns in Bangladesh, South Korea and the Philippines, this panel seeks to understand why people-led movements and community-oriented solutions not only put forward a vision of climate justice but justice on all fronts, especially for those most affected by the climate crisis.
