This year, the Asia Solidarity Lab Fellowship invites junior campaigners, organizers, and advocates to join a transformative program to empower emerging leaders in the fight for climate justice. During our synchronous online learning sessions, you’ll join engaging discussions to explore key topics and concepts related to our program focus areas. These sessions will provide valuable insights and knowledge-sharing opportunities, allowing you to deepen your understanding of critical issues and emerging trends related to climate justice and advocating for just energy solutions.

In addition to online sessions, you’ll also have the chance to participate in community circles, where you can engage in more personal conversations with other Fellows. These circles provide a supportive and collaborative environment for building connections, sharing experiences, and fostering meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals from different parts of Asia.

One of the highlights of our program is the in-person community engagement and experiential learning activity. This hands-on experience will allow you to immerse yourself in a local community, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet grassroots leaders, participate in climate discussions, and explore innovative solutions firsthand. This immersive experience will not only deepen your understanding of local contexts and challenges but also empower you to take meaningful action in your own community.

Learning Sessions

Fellows will meet once a week to discuss concepts and topics on climate justice and energy transition.

This will be from August to September 2024.

Community Engagement

Fellows will visit a community to immerse themselves in real-world settings.

This is an in-person activity on the second week of October 2024.

Asia Solidarity Lab

With the guidance of their assigned mentors, Fellows will design and facilitate their own learning sessions.

Implementation must be done by second week of November 2024.

True climate leadership is not solely defined by years of experience or expertise in the field, but by a commitment to promoting social justice and driving positive change within one’s respective advocacy, sector, or community.

Anyone with background on any of the following can apply to be part of the Asia Solidarity Lab Fellowship:

  1. Human rights and climate justice: strong background in human rights advocacy, experience in advocating for the rights of communities affected by climate impacts and incorporating the lens of intersectionality into climate advocacy efforts
  2. Finance campaign: knowledge of climate financing mechanisms and grasp of the complex landscape of climate finance, including funding sources, investment opportunities, and financial instruments
  3. Just transition: knowledge of the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of energy transition and experience working with communities to ensure equitable outcomes
  4. Advocacy and organising: experience in stakeholder engagement, coalition-building, grassroots support mobilization, and driving impactful campaigns

The Asia Solidarity Lab Fellowship is a transformative program designed to empower emerging leaders in the fight for climate justice. The fellowship is open to junior campaigners, organizers, and advocates from across Asia who are passionate about climate justice. Whether you are new to the movement or have some experience in organizing campaigns, we encourage you to apply.

  • Online Learning Sessions: Weekly sessions, August – September 2024
  • Community Engagement and Experiential Learning: Second week of October 2024

You can apply by completing and submitting the online application form. Make sure to submit all required documents by 30 June 2024, the application deadline.

The selection process includes a review of submitted documents and two rounds of interviews. We aim to select a diverse group of fellows who demonstrate a strong commitment to climate justice and community engagement.

The online learning sessions will cover critical topics such as energy justice, climate organizing, and effective advocacy strategies. Each session lasts 2.5 to 3 hours and includes engaging discussions, knowledge-sharing, and practical skill-building.

In the second week of October, fellows will gather in-person in Indonesia for hands-on experiences in a local community. This component allows fellows to apply their skills in real-world settings, engage with grassroots leaders, and deepen their understanding of local issues and solutions.

No, there is no charge for both the application or participation in the fellowship. The program is entirely free of cost. 350.org will cover the flights and lodging costs for the in-person activity in October.

No, there is no age limit for the Asia Solidarity Lab Fellowship. We welcome applicants of all ages to apply. Our goal is to bring together a diverse group of participants with a shared commitment to climate justice, regardless of age.

By participating in the fellowship, you will gain valuable skills and knowledge that you can bring back to your community. You’ll be equipped to lead local initiatives, train others, and contribute to building a stronger, more inclusive climate justice movement!
